(Singles Handicap Match Play Knockout)


Rules and Information


COMPETITION RULES


  1. 1.The LION CUP is a singles match play competition, played on the basis of elimination and on handicap according to the Rules of Golf and these competition rules.

  2. 2.The competition fee will be $10.00. Playing fees for all rounds to be paid by competitors at the course being played.

  3. 3.All players shall play off their handicaps (calculated for the course and tees using the current handicap index) at the time of the match. The higher-handicapped player shall be allowed a handicap equal to the difference in the handicaps of the two competitors.

  4. 4.The elimination rounds shall be played over 18 holes on any course by mutual agreement (Lincoln Park is the default course). The final round and the playoff to decide third and fourth places shall be played at Lincoln Park over 18 holes. Matches standing all square after completion of the stipulated round shall continue a sudden death playoff until one player wins a hole.

  5. 5.All rounds MUST be completed on or before the dates shown below and at the top of the respective column in the draw, which will be posted at Lincoln Park, and on the club website (www.lincolnparkgc.com.) The player whose name appears first (above) in the draw shall be responsible for arranging the match. All competitors are urged to be flexible and accommodating to reach agreement on both a date and a course. Failing mutual agreement on an earlier date the player who is not available on the final date shall forfeit the match. The flipping of a coin can be used as a last resort. The other player must then claim the match and complete the column in the draw. Any decisions or rulings will be made by the competition organizer.

  6. 6.The draw for the competition will be done as follows: The winner and runner-up of last year's Lion Cup will be seeded first and second respectively. The other places will be filled by a blind draw.

Note that Regatta points will be awarded for entrants and the first four places similar to regular tournaments.


The 2009 dates for completion of each round:


Entries close: March 17th, 2009 - $10 per entry


First round - June 7th, 2009

Second round - July 12th, 2009

Third round - August 30th, 2009
Fourth Round - September 27th, 2009

Final round - must be played by October 25th, 2009
